What’s in a name? In the case of the “Hurricane Irene Cookies,” it is the story of time and place. On the morning of Hurricane Irene, Kathleen King, owner of Tate’s Bake Shop, 43 North Sea Road, Southampton, N.Y., 631-283-9830, had power until 10 a.m. so she gathered open packages of ingredients from her pantry and refrigerator and thought, “I should bake a cookie that was like a storm, a mixture of many elements.” This recipe became Tate’s Bake Shop Recipe of the Month.
